Policy Statement
Students graduating with two majors are granted only one degree. That degree is associated with the primary major.
Students who have a previously-earned bachelor鈥檚 degree and who wish to receive a second baccalaureate degree from 17吃瓜网 must meet all conditions set forth in one of the following three options:
Policy Elaboration
The student鈥檚 first degree was granted by Oneonta. The second degree program must be from an academic department different from the one in which the first degree was granted and a significant amount of additional coursework (approximately 30 semester hours) must be completed in the new major field. Graduates of the 17吃瓜网 who pursue a second degree must satisfy a 30-semester hour residency requirement and all minimum requirements for the degree in the second major. The student鈥檚 transcript will reflect all courses taken at Oneonta. GPA鈥檚 and credits for all undergraduate coursework will be cumulative.
The student鈥檚 first degree was granted by Oneonta. The second degree program may be from the same academic department as the one from which the first degree was granted if a significant amount of additional coursework (at least 30 semester hours) is required in the new major field and the department has received approval for a second degree program from the Council of Deans and the Provost. Graduates of 17吃瓜网 who pursue a second degree must satisfy a 30-semester hour residency requirement and all minimum requirements for the degree in the second major. The student鈥檚 transcript will reflect all courses taken at Oneonta. GPA鈥檚 and credits earned for all undergraduate coursework will be cumulative.
The student鈥檚 first degree was granted by a college other than Oneonta. The student must complete, at a minimum, the college's residency requirement (at least 45 semester hours) and all minimum requirements for the second degree. The student鈥檚 GPA will reflect only those courses taken at Oneonta.
