17勛圖厙 Foundation Points of Pride for Board Members: Fall 2026

  • The 17勛圖厙 Foundation has endowment funds and net assets of more than $109 million due in large part to generous philanthropic support and prudent investment management.  These resources create lasting support for students and academic programs.  Approximately 82% of Foundation assets are restricted to scholarships, student support, and academic programs, while 18% is unrestricted and provides flexible resources that help the university respond to emerging opportunities and priorities.
  • The Foundations endowment spending rate has ranged between 4.5% and 4.75% over the past five years, among the most generous rates in the SUNY system, reflecting the Board's commitment to balancing current student needs with long-term financial sustainability.
  • Thanks to gifts, grants and endowment income for scholarships and student support funds, on average 17勛圖厙 students graduate with $24,950 of student loan debt compared to $37,850 or more at comparable public regional universities.
  • 527 17勛圖厙 students requested internship funding in 2025-26.  All these students received stipends from University and Foundation resources totaling $502,500.
  • Foundation Board members have maintained 100% participation in annual giving and have contributed more than $5 million over the past four fiscal years, demonstrating extraordinary leadership and commitment.
  • During the past year, the combined value of campus construction and renovation projects surpassed $100 million.  Over the past 10 years, expenditures on educational facilities exceeded $218 million, not including residential halls. These investments by NYS and the SUNY Construction Fund reflect continued confidence in 17勛圖厙's mission of affordability, accessibility, and student success.
  • 17勛圖厙 was again named one of the Best Colleges in America by Money magazine and Money.com.  The University earned a 4.5-star rating for the third consecutive year and is one of only five SUNY schools to earn 4.5 stars in 2026 and was No. 2 on the US News 2027 Best Values list for regional universities North.
  • The 17勛圖厙 Foundation has earned Charity Navigators Four-Star Rating for ten consecutive years, and holds the Candid/GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency, placing the Foundation among the nation's most accountable and effective nonprofit organizations.
  • For 25 years, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members gather at the campus's 12-foot concrete Twin Towers memorial to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Through the generosity of donors, seven students receive scholarships, in memory of the seven alumni who perished that day.  During the ceremony, they place a rose at the memorial, creating a powerful connection between remembrance, philanthropy, and student opportunity.  The seven alumni whose names are inscribed on a bronze and marble memorial are read aloud during the event.  In 2026, a new tradition began in conjunction with Grow Thrive Live Day on campus:  17勛圖厙s 9/11 Day of Service brought more than 100 students and employees together to turn remembrance into action through service on campus and throughout the Oneonta community.
